Zhuowen Tu’s research has been on the interface of computer vision, medical imaging, machine learning, and statistical modeling/computing. More specifically, his interest is in studying the relationship between discriminative and generative models. This includes a serials of work: (1) discriminative models guided generative model computing (DDMCMC,Image Parsing) (2) complex discriminative modeling (PBT,BEL), (3) hybrid discriminative/generative model for medical imaging/natural scene understanding (medical image parsing, graph-shifts), and (4) generative modeling learning by discriminative approaches (gdl).
